Connecting to a virtual desktop is the central experience of the Tehama platform, and Tehama is constantly optimizing to provide the best experience for users who are connecting to Tehama to deliver work.
We are introducing an improvement to the user experience of launching a desktop. This improvement is intended to:
- Improve user awareness of the desktop launch status by providing better feedback about what is happening
- Increase the reliability of connecting to a desktop with a single click
Connect to a Desktop
The act of connecting to a desktop remains a simple, single-click process. To connect to desktop, simply press the “Connect” button on a desktop that has been assigned to you.
At this step, Tehama has introduced a new multi-stage view into the desktop launch status.
Preparing your Desktop
After you press connect, Tehama begins waking up the desktop and ensuring that it’s ready for work. This step can take a different amount of time depending on your desktop type. Tehama Linux and Windows Desktops are typically ready in less than a minute, as they are recovering from a hibernated state, while On-Demand desktops take a little longer as they are recovering from a fully powered off state.
Launching your Desktop
Once we have confirmed the desktop is awake and ready to go, the interface will show the step of launching the desktop. Here we’re kicking off the Tehama desktop client, which is the window into a desktop.
Launch Complete
By the time you reach this stage, the desktop should have successfully launched.
If you find that the desktop has not launched, follow the troubleshooting steps on-screen, or refer to Troubleshooting: My Desktop is not Launching
